The high
quality of joints depends on the respect of the conditions of use and on the
good care of the tool, which are far from demanding.
- Before connecting
the machine and after
having fixed one of the nozzles according to the width of the joint, you
must wet the inner surface of the tank. That will prevent the mortar from
sticking to the sides during the work.
- The
choice of the appropriate mortar is essential. The mixing must
be creamy and the granulation must be 0.2 mm (for the ground) or less
(ideal for the homogeneity of the joint). «LP Joint» by Laporte
which is ready to use and available in 4 different shades is perfectly
suited.
• For walls the granulation must be between 0,4 to 0,6 mm (Laporte
recommends the Pierra products).
- The
pointing is made sector by sector, beginning with all parallel
joints. Place the nozzle in the joint, turn the regulator of flow on and
pull the machine regularly and continuously, reducing the flow of mortar
at intersections if necessary. Perpendicular joints are subsequently filled.
At the intersections of tiles you simply reduce or stop the flow of mortar,
depending on your first passage.
- When
the tank is empty, or if you interrupt your work for a few minutes
and before reloading it with mortar, make sure that you have cleaned the
tank as well as the nozzle. Once the pointing machine is unplugged, you
must first take out the pushing rod, which is linked to the motor block.
The motor block is taken off and cleaned with a damp sponge only. The
tank and nozzle can be washed with a water jet or by immersing. Make sure
that no marks of mortar remain.
